US will not pursue civil rights case after mentally ill black man shot by officer

Protesters in Milwaukee after authorities announced a white police officer who  shot a mentally ill black man wouldn’t face criminal charges.

Mentally ill black man shot by officer

The article I annotated happened in April 2014 Christopher Manney was accused of killing Dontre Hamilton, who was schizophrenic but not violent. Manny said he came upon Hamilton in the park while he was responding to a call about a man that had been sleeping in the park. Manny said he had a suspicion that Hamilton was going to be a threat to him when he stood up to talk to the officer.  Manny said  that when he was patting him down Hamilton grabbed Manny's baton and attacked him with it, which made Manny fire his gun. Police Chief Edward Flynn fired Manny for not following the department rules. The FBI  met the Hamilton family on Tuesday November 10,2015 to let them know about their decisions. The family was disappointed by the decision and surprised it took them 10 and a half months to come to it. The county district attorney decided not to file state charges against Manny.

I feel like they should of taken actions right away instead of taking 10 and a half months to do anything about it. I also feel that the district attorney should have of filed charges against Manny because he fired his weapon at a innocent man that didn't do anything wrong. People need to learn to not always jump to conclusions because usually the innocent people are they ones that usually get hut.
